Verdae at Daily Groceries

I’m never really sure how to feel come New Year’s Eve.  Melancholic? Relieved? Apprehensive?  I don’t usually look back over the year and wish it away or wish to relive parts of it.  I’ve been known to go to bed long before midnight (or fall asleep on the couch in the company of friends and family)!

We are selling at a new location – Daily Groceries Co-op in Athens.  Check out their website at  www.dailygroceries.org

Daily is carrying Verdae and Terrapin Soaps, lip balms, lotions and butters.  The store is quaint, attractive and popular.  It is housed in an old brick building, sports a bright green balcony and has creaky wood floors.  Yesterday afternoon, in the 40 degree weather, two young women sat outside at the picnic table eating lunch, hoods over their heads with just their faces peeking out – that’s loyalty.  Daily is stocked full of great healthy and organic produce, canned items, bulk foods, health and beauty products, Luna breads, juices and more.  The staff is friendly, helpful and kind.  I think one of my favorite things about Daily is the local neighborhood feel that it exudes.

I lost track of my inventory some time late in November as we became happily and ridiculously busy.  My sweet sister is visiting us from Ohio and agreed to do inventory with me – I was surprised and delighted with the numbers of products that we sold over the holidays.  Marguerite, the aforementioned sweet sister, was probably in part my inspiration for all things natural.  She was vegetarian in the 70’s when it was not the most popular choice, made her own bread, sprouted alfalfa on her windowsill, made her sons baby food from table food.  Yesterday she and I visited Daily and I observed that her shopping habits still go in the direction of natural and healthy.  She bought red lentils, tumeric, organic tomatoes, cilantro, curry and a few other items – can’t wait for the soup!!!  I’m not used to someone cooking yummy delicious things in my kitchen.  Anyway, as we inventoried the Verdae line she ooohed and aaahd over the smells and ingredients and began a torrent of fabulous ideas for the upcoming Valentine rush – I told her she can’t go home, as I need help with all these new gift packs…..she teaches  French at a private boys high school in Cincinnati – I’m sure they would fight me for her should I consider kidnapping.

I’m contemplating sharing my chocolate soap for Valentine’s day.  We already have chocolate lip balm – what do you think about chocolate massage butter???  I can’t decide whether to add chocolate to the cocoa butter blend (which could cause some staining) or just be happy with the cocoa butter fabulous chocolate scent – I’d love some feedback!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

  1. Dear Suzanne-
What a joy it was to spend time with you and to see first hand the meticulous organizaItion of your business at home. You put such care and love into your products. It was wonderful to see your beautiful display on the shelves at the two Whole Foods in Atlanta and Daily Groceries in Athens! What amazed me in testing the sudsing of the Merlot soap was the feeling that not only were my hands clean but moisturized as well. For me, you also have the best lip gloss, shampoo soap and lotion – hands down. I recently learned that Clorox purchased Burt’s Bees and P&G purchased Tom’s toothpaste. It’s becoming increasingly clear that the quality you carry is very rare indeed. I’m saving the Dead Sea bath salts with lavender for a quiet relaxing evenig. It would be a true privilege to spend time working with you. I love you so much,

  2. Hi there,
I just wanted to say that my husband bought me some of your lotion for Christmas and I just LOVE it. I’m constantly battling dry skin, and even during this long cold spell your lotion (it’s the lavender scent) has kept me comfortable. One question: Do you sell it in larger bottles?

Thanks for making a great product!
    Ellie Jenkins (Hull, Georgia)
