Now what could this possibly mean???
Here’s a hint, it has something to do with fabulous palm wax candles…
but before we get into that, I’m guessing that my northern friends and family are thinking that I’ve gone completely mad. What Yankee in her right mind would use the name “bubba”, everyone knows that is one of THE most southern names ever.
And while we’re on the subject of Yankees, 20 years ago when I moved to Athens (I’m from Ohio, and even lived in Athens Ohio for a short time) the very first bumper sticker I saw (on my neighbors car) said this: “clean up the South, give a Yankee a bus ticket”! I’m not much for verbatim quoting, but that one found a permanent place in my memory. It’s kind of amazing how history has a way of lingering. The guy was old then and he’s still around 20 years later.
Bubba is my beautifully hand-crafted wax melting tub. We pour 55 lbs of palm wax in the top, heat it to 190 degrees, add fragrance and color and away we go!!! We used to heat our wax on the stove and after too many opportunities for disaster melting wax on the stove (and any number of arguments) my husband built Bubba. Lucky for me he’s a mechanical genius (my husband, not Bubba and no my husband is not “a” Bubba which is a southern descriptor for someone who is not the sharpest tool in the shed, or so they say)
Yesterday we started in earnest the production of palm wax candles. We’ve tested and sampled so many wonderful fragrances and colors to come up with just the right combination to make them irresistible! Our goal is to offer candles that are made from renewable resources (unlike paraffin), and to use wax that is responsibly harvested. We’ve met our goal and now can offer you candles like you’ve never had before!
We are doing some fund-raising in our local schools offering ten candle fragrances. We are offering five of those fragrances on our new website, which is not quite up yet – but will be very soon.
Just to tantalize your senses a little, we have
Red Hot Cinnamon – just like it sounds – spicy and hot!
Creamy Latte – our own blend of fragrances starting with coffee and throwing in a little…it’s a secret!
Warm Vanilla – nice nutty chewy cookie smell
Pine Forest – green, green, evergreen
French Lavender – soothing and deep
We’re offering five MORE fragrances with the fundraiser, and you are welcome to contact us if one of these is of greater interest:
Juicy Grapefruit my new favorite, clean, fresh and very true to grapefruit
Crisp Apple – definately granny smith
Citrus Spice (just like our soap) Cinnamon, Clove and other warm spices
Hawaiian Breeze – coconut, citrus, smells like a day at the beach
Morning Rain – clean and fresh like clothes on the line.
Be on the lookout for our new website! and, oh yeah, look for us in Earth Fare too!
