This evening we attended a fundraising event for the Girl Scouts. It was a SPAjama party for women of all ages. We happened to be placed in the area where spa services were offered and had ample opportunity to observe the goings on.
I thoroughly enjoyed watching women from 20 to 90 having fun. It was close quarters and the atmosphere was friendly and sisterly. The event was well-organized, the food was good and the fun never stopped! There were zumba demonstrations (exercise dance from Latin countries) hooping demos (remember your hula hoop?) door prizes, a silent auction, free spa services provided by Athens local salons and more.
We probably sold more lip balm than anythig else, although the beer soap was well-received as well. Most people like it to give as gifts, never knowing what they themselves are missing!!! What a great bar of soap.
One of my customers was a woman who had a paralysis on one side. She had to do everything one-handed. She was cheerful and patient with herself, an inspiration to me.
As much as I swear that I’m not an extrovert, I do love meeting my customers and chatting with them. Sometimes my brutal honesty kills a sale – “will this moisture whip take away my wrinkles???” Well, uh, NO – nothing will take away your wrinkles.
I’ve worked hard smiling to have the beautiful wrinkles on my face that I have. I’ve got great crinkle lines around my eyes and laugh lines around my mouth. My hands are looking more like crepe paper everyday – all that means is that everyday I get a little wiser!
