Yesterday I was mixing up some beer brew on the screened porch, the temperature was in the 20’s – so glad I live down south…
I was trying to avoid inhaling the fumes from the beer lye mixture, however everytime I moved to the opposite side of the table, the vapors moved there too. I’m not a science/physics person but I’m wondering if the vapors were “attracted” to my body heat – don’t know what else it could be.
We cooked and served at one of the homeless shelters two nights ago. There was a large crowd and we ran out of food. It was another cold night, but folks were friendly and grateful. Last night I watched “Soloist”. If you haven’t seen it I highly recommend it. Based on a true story about homelessness in LA (90,000 people homeless – the most in the nation) starring Jamie Foxx and Robert Downey Jr. – be sure to watch the trailers too for interviews with the real stars of the story. The following night a homeless kitty followed me home late in the evening. As I crested the hill on our street I heard loud meeowing. Very skinny young cat who my husband has adopted…for now.
It’s embarassing how easily we’ll adopt a cat while people go hungry.
Started making some Valentine’s soaps – a really “delicious” chocolate soap with a spicy orange essential oil blend. I’m having a lot of fun learning about blending oils – just like everything else – there’s a science to blending. Certain oils “hold” the fragrance, others “round and soften” the edges and still others are fleeting and short-lived. One of the things Ilove most about what I do is learning more about natural products. I’ve also replaced my Lemon Verbena fragrance with my own blend – smells really good!
