Admittedly exhausted

As I said to the Whole Foods folks – in the 20 years that I’ve lived in Georgia, I’ve been to Atlanta more in the past month than in all those years combined!

The name of the game is marketing.  This past week we added our Beer soap line to Whole Foods, Ponce de Leon store.  What a different experience.  This store is in midtown and has a completely different clientele than the Briarcliff store.  I met many nice people at both stores this past weekend who filled my head with new ideas, people to contact and business ventures to try – as if my own head doesn’t drive me crazy enough.

I’m finding my physical limitations challenged as I go from one store to the other working on being an extrovert.  In my wildest dreams I never saw myself doing anything of the kind.  I talk to strangers, strange people, friendly people, rude people, those who think beer soap is the stupidest thing they ever heard of and those who think it’s the neatest thing since sliced bread.  My friends and family are totally supportive, thank God.

On Saturday my friend Jon Perry came with me.  He is a natural salesman, unlike me.  He followed people around the store with his big smile in tow and professed the attributes of our wonderful product.  I labeled him the “piranha”.  Which reminds me:  the most frustrating thing about selling beer soap is the short amount of time (2 seconds) that one has to make a convincing pitch.  Our soap is full of great moisturizing ingredients besides beer.  So we decided to unwrap a bar so peeps could feel the silkiness of the bar itself.  This was surprisingly effective.

My favorite target audience is older woman, strangely enough.  They are intrigued, interested, fascinated and supportive.  The more they look like someone who wouldn’t give you the time of day, the more likely they are to buy a beer soap.  This is a great lesson in being non-judgmental.

I’m happily taking a break today and washing the kithcen floor……..

Happy Holidays
