Today I finally forced myself out the door in the foggy dampness only to find the road littered with worms and pre-historic looking centipedes. One of the multi-legged was particularly interesting. He/she was on its back flailing all legs to the sky so I thought I would give this poor soul a hand and turn it over – only to find that it apparently had ingested so much of something that it could no longer make it’s legs touch the ground regardless of its orientation to the universe. I think we all feel that way some times – overfull with the challenges of existence!
It’s been raining a lot in Georgia and the last few days have been particularly dreary and cold. No rain today but the trees are so drenched in foggy moisture that it sounds like rain is falling from their naked branches. When I left the house for my walk the neighbors cat – the same one that likes to play red light green light (see prior post) was sitting on the electrical box keeping her tummy warm and when I arrived back home after walking I was greeted by a stunningly beautiful red cardinal twittering away happily, probably content with the higher temperatures today.
There’s so much to see even when the weather is less than sunny and warm, sometimes we just need to change lenses!
Steve is happily in his shop-away-from-home in the Outer Banks working on a mechanized soap cutter! He loves the challenge of figuring out new inventions. There certainly are soap cutters on the market – but with all of his found treasures he can usually make something amazing that works better than anyone else’s idea for little to no money. I feel so lucky!
Our local grocery, Daily Groceries Co-op dailygroceries.org is now carrying most of our Verdae line. It was so nice to find interest in our other great products. The beer line has definately overshadowed our initial line which causes me some grief because we have so many great products. While on the subject of great products – I was busy all weekend with sales at the CAtholic Center and had a Pomegranate Glacee balm in my pocket for ready use. By the end of the weekend I was very tired, but still reminded myself to take the balm out of my pocket before putting the pants in the wash. Well guess what? I forgot anyway. I’m happy and proud to report that the lip balm tube stayed in tact and the contents and label were no worse for the wear when I discovered them in the bottom of the washer!
We are also now selling at Epps Bridge and Alps Barber Shop and the Salon in Athens, barbersandthesalon.com We are hoping to collaborate on some products for the salon as well – this is probably the most exciting and rewarding part of the business for me. I get really happy when someone says to me, “can you make…………………” Also check out athens.locallygrown.net for really great local produce, meat, dairy, crafts etc.
We don’t have any more craft fairs or shows before Christmas but we will be going to Whole Foods Briarcliff as much as possible before the 25th.
It’s lookin’ like an all-day fog just like yesterday. When we lived in Sandusky Ohio and it fogged, snowed and rained ALL winter, I finally cut out a beautiful sunshine and stuck it to the window to brighten our day – that was years ago and those two little girls of mine who thought it was delightful are now in their twenties!
Happy day – no matter the weather.
